During the first session, we began by discussing the objectives of the course. The main focus was placed on improving the learner’s speaking skills and listening comprehension, which are her primary priorities.

 

The first part of the session consisted of a conversation about her professional environment. She talked about her role, her colleagues, what she enjoys about her job, and the aspects she finds challenging. She also described her company and explained some elements related to the steel industry. This discussion provided around one hour of natural speaking practice.

 

In the second part of the session, the learner prepared and delivered a short presentation on a topic of her choice. This exercise aimed to help her structure her ideas and build confidence when speaking.

 

The session concluded with the definition of objectives for the next class.

 

The grammatical objectives to focus on at this stage are the following. The present continuous. The distinction between present and past tenses. Prepositions.
